My first TRASH TO TREASURE Tuesday!!!

I have been reading Kimm at Reinvented forever!!! She is hilarious & has tons of great ideas & I always think about doing the Trash to Treasure Tuesday but had never had time to write a blog until NOW!!! I still don't have time with working a full time job & the fact that lightening got my computer at home, but I am MAKING time!!!!

My Trash to Treasure is not Fourth of July as requested but I have been waiting too long to post & just got the Fourth of July memo this morning, lol. The school across the street from me is closing due to funding so all of the teachers are cleaning out & I mean CLEANING OUT their rooms. They are throwing away paints, paint brushes, craft supplies galore, buckets, christmas trees, & just all kinds of good stuff. (So yes I have been dumpster diving, lol. But I duck when cars drive by) .
One thing I pulled out was an ice cream bucket. My wheels were a turning when I seen that, in perfect shape, ice cream bucket. Since I have to fix Tinkerbells hair at the table while she eats every morning I have been looking for a portable basket to keep the water bottle, comb, spray & rubber bands in & have not found a good one with a handle until now. Add a little bit of spray paint, a little bit of material & mod podge some ribbon around the handle. Label it & add some cutie flowers & wallah!! A portable bucket to sit next to my dining room table so I can torture her while she eats, lol.

Go check out Kimm at reinvented for some great & I mean GREAT ideas!!!!

How to make your own hairbows

Yes I am THAT into hair. I love it & absolutely CANNOT wait until Tinkerbells hair is long enough to do more with it. But for now I have to settle with prettying (a word?) it up with bows.

Its a girl thing is a GREAT site to get some info on how to make a bow board which is an absolute necessity once you start making bows.

Here is a picture of Tinkerbells when I first made it. Now it is jam packed!!!!

I did it different than the tutorial on It's a girl thing because I wanted more than one color of ribbon. I crisscrossed Lime Green & purple. The next one that I make (because she needs another one) will be just like the tutorial. I don't think that I got more space out of doing it this way. Here is a picture of one that I made for Bug's best friend Bear. It was on a smaller board but I like the neatness of it.

If your wondering where I got the cute bows go to Petedge.com & check them out. They were so worth the $25.99 that they were for the amount that comes in a container. They come on little rubber bands & I just clipped them & hot glued them to my lined Snap clip. I loved them & it allowed me to make a lot & give them away without having to actually take a whole lot of time to fold ribbons & bake ribbons & so forth. These are still perfect for Tinkerbell's hair. If you do decide to order them try to either go in with someone else or wait until they have free shipping. If you don't purchase $75.00 worth of products it is $7.99 shipping but it was still worth it for me not to have to actually make the bows from scratch.

The difference between snap clips & alligator clips:

Alligator clips are for older girls & snap clips are for babies/younger girls or thinner hair.

I still use the snap clips on Tinkerbell's hair. I think that they stay in really well.

It also shows you how to make corker bows & Bandana dresses like this: (Tinkerbell-8 months)

Back to bow making:

This is what the back should look like. You don't want to go all the way around because you need it to stick in your little girls hair. If you go all the way around it will just slide out.

This is a picture of the front of one of the bows I made. I got this bow from JoAnn's for $1.99 for a 6 pack. They look so cute in & you can get all different colors.

Hope this helps if you decide to make your little girl her own bows & want to pull off that you "made" them even if you bought most of the stuff, lol. It's better than just a pony or bare pigtails!!!!

Another great site for headbands & bows is The bow Lady.com. Her headbands are guaranteed not to put red marks on your babies head. Her bows are adorable but I think a little expensive.

Here's a picture of Tinkerbell with a bow lady headband/bow on.

Zumba anyone?

So the all new fitness craze is Zumba. Zumba you ask??? Yes Zumba. It is a dance arobic/fitness class that is A-W-E AWESOME!!!! It is 1-2 mintues of fast paced dance moves. I have joined this Zumba craze. After 2 babies you kind of have to do something with the belly. It just sticks after that 2nd one pops out, lol.

Ok back to Zumba. Dances includ cha-cha, merengue, salsa & mambo moves. You move in ways that you didn't think your body would move. I was a cheerleader for 4 years & these are some moves that we never did!!!! At first I was horribly skeptic. I thought about what people would think once they realized that I have no rhythm, but seriously out of 30 people in the class I think the teacher & a couple of others have rhythm. The rest just make up their own moves to the music & try to keep up. It is so fun. My mom & I go together & laugh the entire time.

Last night was only my 2nd class & I pooped out after 45 minutes but that is a hard, dripping with sweat, 45 minutes. My mom held in for the whole time but we dance different. I do it all out & she does the awkward, I don't want people to make fun of me, moves. Towards the end it makes a HUGE & I mean HUGE difference as to how your body feels.

Here are a couple of pictures & check out Zumba in your area. Your first class (here) is free to see if you like it!!!!

It's a Hair thing!!!

I have a fasination with fixing hair!!! I have since I was a little girl. My cousin used to have super long hair & I would always braid it & do different stuff with it. Now she's a cosmotologist, lol. When I first entered the blogging world it was to check out "hair" sites. I FELL IN LOVE!!!!! I seriously SQUEALED in delight. I could not get enough. My 2 favorites are cute2tryhairdo's & hair4myprincess. Seriously I cannot believe some of the stuff that these 2 super mommies come up with. Tinkerbell is only 16 months old but I have done plenty with what I can work with. I CANNOT wait until her hair gets longer & longer & longer, lol.

This first one is a hair headband into 2 piggies from this post. I just adapted it to fit her shorter hair. On the last pull through I went towards the back & made it part of the pigtail.

This one is just 2 simple pigtails back into 1 ponytail.

I love this one!!!! This kept her bangs back & looked absolutely ADORABLE!!!! This is 2 pull throughs into piggies.

I can't get the next 2 to separate. So the 1st one is the same as above except I didn't pull the middle ones through & the bottom pictures is just 1 ponytail into 2 piggies.
Even though she doesn't have a lot of hair I can still do some stuff with it other than the normal pigtails. ENJOY!!!!!
Check out how adorable Little Alex is in Hair for the mini Divi!!! Also her mommies cute bows.

My Debut into the blogging world-FINALLY!!!

First off let me introduce myself. My name is Nicki & I love to write, read other blogs, see cute girly hairdo's & find new recipes. Hence my description for my all over the place blog. I have 2 kids, Tinkerbell & Bug (so not their real names, lol). Tinkerbell is 1 & Bug just turned 3. Those babies are my pride, my joy & my life. I have been happily married to Mr.KU for 4 1/2 years. I work in insurance & surprisingly enough I LOVE my job.

Me with Tinkerbell & Bug

I have been posting on facebook for it seems like forever!!! Not many people actually do use the note section in facebook, but I do, lol!!! So with my first post I am actually going to do a couple of repost off of my facebook notes just to get a feel for this. Enjoy!!!

Repost from 6/3/09

Oh my darling Bug. You were my first. My pride, my joy & my first absolute LOVE in this world. You can love another person but it is no where close to the love that you feel for that 1st child. All those new experiences that you get to go through. It is priceless.

Bug came into this world @ 9:21 am on June 13, 2006. I had contractions on 6/12 & was walking walking walking all evening. I was walking from stop sign to stop sign in front of my house talking on my phone. I think I walked for 2 hours. I had been talking back & forth with my cousin about whether she should come to town or not. I didn't want her to have a wasted drive but I also didn't want her to miss his birth. She's my baby picture taker, lol. At about 10pm the contractions had stopped so I told her to just go to bed & I would call her if anything happened. At 3:46 am I woke up & thought, "was that a contraction"? Then it came again. I was so excited!!! I jumped in the shower & shaved my legs, lol. I woke Mr. KU up @ 4:15 & he jumped in the shower, & by 5:20 I was wondering what the hell he was doing. It took him forever to get ready because he was so stinking nervous. My contractions were about 3-4 minutes apart by that time. We got to the hospital @ 5:45 & I was admitted into the check-in room because they were so full. I ended up getting demoral about 7 & had Bug had 9:21am. I had such an easy delivery with him.

I remember seeing him for the first time. I was amazed that that little guy had come from my belly. After I had him I knew he was a keeper, lol.

Bug is now an extremely funny, adorable 3 year old. His goal in life is to make people laugh. I love this little boy!!!!

Repost from 6/22 about Tinkerbell

When I was pregnant with Tinkerbell I wanted another boy so bad. Everyone said what if it's a girl? I said, "no way". I don't want ANY girls. Any girl of mine is going to have to have a couple of older brothers to keep her in line, lol. Then I started thinking, crap this is going to be a girl. If this is going to be a girl then I need to want it to be a girl so I'm not disappointed. So I changed my whole train of thought & started looking into bows & dresses & tutu's!!! When we found out that she was most defintely a girl, I was estatic!!!! I went on a bow, headband & dress spending spree. She will be the type of girl that takes her high heels off to ride the 4 wheeler, lol.

I am in fact creating a monster. I know I am but I can't help it!!! She is gorgeous & she knows it. Saturday she was standing in front of the mirror swishing her dress from side to side, and just smiling at herself. Oh lord help me when she turns 13!!!!

Just a couple of cute pics of Tinkerbell. I love the huge hotdog picture. Her face cracks me up!!!
